Im trying to figure out the best way to go about tackling this goal.
I'd like to get 210+whp out of this engine. (90 civic si) I'd like to keep it under $3000.... Is this possible?
What would be the best route to take... This is a list of parts I've got so far.
90' civic si = $700
XTD stage 2 clutch = $104
ARP head studs = $115
p28 chipped/dyno tuned ecu = $150
Vitara Turbo Pistons with NPR rings = $100
Eagle Rods = $290
Ebay turbo kit = $650
Ebay muffler = $30 (already had full exhaust, but it sounds like ****, so Im going to change the muffler)
TOTAL = $21xx
It does need a new clutch and I've heard mixed things about XTD... Also, the ebay turbo is another issue.. The price is attractive, the quality I'll most likely get won't be. Would I be better off to buy a ebay turbo kit, minus the actual turbo... for around $200-$300 and then just buy a good turbo?
What ecu will I need to run this set up, I was told the one I listed wasnt really a good choice. And Would I need to have the block bored to 75.5mm with those pistons?
Thanks

I feel like the ebay turbo will be a huge waste of $800.... Im sure many of you agree...
I could do this, head package... put down 144hp and 120tq to the wheels. with a header, put ddown 157hp and 134tq.
It's $1450 with free shipping.

the ebay setup will work i would recommend changing the exhaust manifold and wastegate there both junk in the ebay kits as for the turbo will be fine for the power your trying to make...
the xtd clutch will do ok for a while
on my setup i was running a ebay setup minus the manifold/wategate/bov and i was on 7lbs low boost 15lbs high boost 372hp daily driven on my built d16y8 and the clutch lastest about 10pulls before it started to slip on me and i changed it to an act clutch
make sure you pick up sum arp rod bolts also
otherwise u sound like your ready to make more than 210hp all day if yu wanted to

I recommend not getting a ebay turbo cause you get what you pay for and are complete crap. I have seen tons of people blow there car over ebay turbos. For bout 3k or a little more you could swap in a k series and be at 235 whp and 198 trq. This would be alot more realible than the turbo d16.

Just do a motor swap and you will be way better of. I you do want to keep the same motor then sell all the crap you got off of ebay and start fresh. There is a reason it is sold on ebay, and not in a shop or a good online store. If you get the basic bolt ons with your motor then you should be just about where you want your horsepower to be.

Hmm, like a few others stated, swapping the motor would be more benificial in hopes of power. But, if your looking for a rare build, and wanting to be one of those few civics with a built turbo'd d16, do it. Just keep in mind it's going to be pricey and even then, your run the chance of going kaboom. Do what your heart tells u. Just don't buy a eBay turbo.

Stay away from eBay turbo's. There's a reason it doesn't have a name brand. You can go completely n/a for about $2000 and get your 200hp. High comp pistons, forged rods, ti valve springs/retainers, stage 2 or 3 cam, 450cc blue tops, 255 walbro pump. Tune it on E85 for your 100 octane. All arp, acl, wiseco, supertech, and crower. My redline is now at 10k and making 202whp.
