Hello,

How are you with 96-98 Civic's securing the aftermarket head unit to the dash. The 2 screws that held the original radio do not have matching holes on the aftermarket unit. Anyone using metal strapping or a custom bracket on the back of the aftermarket unit?

If you just pop the new stereo in without screwing it down, it would be very easy to steal.

I never used the bolts to re-install my head unit. The aftermarket head unit should have come with a "sleeve" that goes on the outside of the actual unit. On that sleeve there should be tabs that you will bend out to prevent the head unit from being pulled out. This sleeve locks the head unit in.

Try that link page 10 shows the bending of the tabs. It also shows keeping the old head unit. But the main thing I was trying to show was the pic of the tabs being bent down.
