seeing that some of those particular cars are hard to come by, at least by my searching; this would be a more powerful engine, but harder to find.

so the Z3 has lower HP and compression?

bare with me im still learning, but what would the pros and cons be of taking a civic type R ep3(k20A) over a 2005 civic si? obviously the type R would have a little more power, but the 2005 SI has electronic steering instead of a pump (good or bad) please dont flame me im just trying to figure out what to get when my brother buys me a replacement car. suggestions, thoughts even telling me that you REALLY like cookie would be appreciated.

soarintothesun is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: k20 vs k20z3?

The Civic type-R K20a (220hp) will actually have a lot more power than than anemic K20 found in the 7th gen Si (02-05) which is rated at about 160Hp. A a 7th or 8th Gen Civic type R is not USDM...so unless you can find someone to import or has imported the type R(and if it was me and i went through the trouble of importing a JDM sports car, I'd hang on to it)...you may just want to settle on getting the 7th Gen Si Hatch instead and swap in the JDM engine.
If you plan on swapping a K20a into an Si it'll be a hell of a lot simpler than swapping into a regular old civic, all you'd need is an engine in an ECU as far as I know, but you'd do the whole shabang, Engine, tranny, ecu, axles, motor mounts...and so on to swap in a K20 into an regular civic and and of course spend a sh*t ton more money....so if your bro would be willing the swing a little extra cash for a civic si,...uh ask if he'll swing some out here to me...haha I'm broke as a joke! But you can see that it'd be advantageous to go that route. You of course might want to wait and see if anyone out there with more knowledge than a mere spocom dabbler would want to shed some light on what you're asking...and while you're waiting search the forum and pick through the threads of those that have already been there and put..ah.."text to field" instead of trying to reinvent the wheel on this thread. Just thought I'd help with what I knew in whatever way I could...and by the way...I prefer brownie over cookie.

yeah I was looking at a civic hatch but if i owned a hatch back I would have to beat MYSELF up because I personally dont like the looks of them. I figured the type R's would be imports because they have stock k20's, lets say I went with a 2006 (yes thats a six) what would it cost me roughly to swap in a k20 and do the whole "shabang" as it were? the only place ive been able to find one (reputably) was from hmo motors and it came with following
Motor
- 6-speed LSD Tranny 4.7 Final Drive (Y2M3)
- ECU (PRC) or (PRD)
- Stock Motor Mounts *
- Alternator
- Starter
- Clutch
- Flywheel
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold with downpipe
- Fuel Rail
- Injectors
- Coil Pack
- Engine Harness
- Half Shaft
- Shifter Cables and Shifter box (Add $150)
- Comes With All Sensors Needed.

the running total on this was like 5500 american so im looking around 6 grand after taxes. not to mention that I plan on doing a magnaflow exhaust system, a turbo kit, and the usual eye candy. by the looks of it this is going to be an expensive ride!

by the way brownies are waaaay to sweet, its all about the cookies my man, COOKIES!
