Non Genuine Honda Dot 3 brake fluid ok?

The manual for my 98 Civic says to use only GH Dot 3 brake fluid. My other car says it doesn't matter (I forget the spec it has to meet, but no specific brands are mentioned).

Do you all use Genuine Honda brake fluid? What could go wrong if I use another dot 3 fluid?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I'd use a quality brand name DOT 3 fluid.

EDIT: I seem to recall a poster her having bad problems with a clutch slave after using some rando cheapo brand fluid in it.

It would either be Napa branded brake fluid, or a name brand at the local walmart (Prestone or Valvoline).

Any of those is fine. BTW, Napa fluids are made by Valvoline last I knew.
