Rep Power: 0 Surging while accelerating? (97 civic hx)
i bought a 97 civic hx (auto transmission) a few days ago to be a daily to get back and forth to college (its my first honda) and it is surging while accelerating, it fluctuates +/- 500 rpms or so and it only happens while driving, it doesnt happen when you rev it while its in park. it doesnt happen at idle (idles fine) and once u get up to speed it doesnt do it anymore and cruises fairly smooth. any ideas on what the issue could be?

Re: Surging while accelerating? (97 civic hx)
I had a problem with "bucking" (significant jolting of the engine) on acceleration with my '97 Civic DX once the engine warmed up. No CEL. No DTCs. Turned out to be the downstream oxygen sensor. Replaced both O2 sensors (Densos from Rock Auto at a good price), problem solved.
