Rep Power: 0 2000 Civic Auto trans slip
Just bought a car for my sister, 2000 civic EX w/ 146k miles. The RPMs will jump up ~500 when it shifts from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. No check engine light or slipping in other gears, trans fluid is at the correct level and clean. Cursory google searches say its the shift solenoid. I would love to know if this is the likely issue before I drop the 150$ on a new one. Thanks.

Remove and clean the shift solenoids and gasket screen with brake cleaner spray.
Do a 3x3 ATF drain and fill. Okay to use Valvoline Maxlife full synthetic ATF. If you don't know when the last ATF change was then do one asap regardless of current dye color.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Be ready to spend a pile of money on a transmission.
