Brand newbie with surging idle 97 Civic
Hello Everyone,
I am a brand new 1997 Civic owner. Just bought it for my Son in Ohio, I am in Orlando. Anyway, it is a 1997 Civic, automatic, 97K miles. When idling it surges every 2-3 seconds from around 1000 to 1800 rpm's. No check engine light, and driving seems normal, just in park it seems to surge. I am thinking vacuum leak or maybe IAC valve if equipped. Sorry I know nothing about Honda's but am an old school mechanic. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanced, Kim

OK, I removed the throttle body, then the IACV, took it apart, and it was stuck, cleaned , lubed, reassembled and now it runs like a top! Can't believe how much they want for new ones!!! Even on E-Bay $$$$$ Kim
