Rep Power: 117 06 Civic Console Box Latch Replacement
Disassembly:
My console box latch broke from being open then slamming when having to stop quickly. I removed the 2 number 27 screws and 3 screws from the plastic piece beneath the number 27 plastic panel. Slide the console box cover back or forward to enable you to remove the pin that goes through the number 24 latch and spring. Note the orientation of the spring number 28 on the latch for reassembly.
Reassembly:
Place the new console latch number 24 and spring number 28 in the proper orientation so that the latch will catch on the front edge of the console box. Move the console cover box forward or backward enough to allow you to push the metal pin through the console latch number 24 and spring number 28. Gently test to see if the latch keeps the console box cover latched. Reassembly the 2 number 27 screws and 3 screws from the plastic piece beneath the number 27 plastic panel.
Tools Required:
Torx screw driver, if you don’t have one I recommend one that has multiple sized bits that are stored in the hollow handle that has a screw on cap, this is real handy for torx screw repairs. Reference PDF file illustration.
