Rep Power: 0 Broken trunk latch 2005 Civic
I have a 2005 Civic with a broken trunk latch. It is the actual latch that is broken. First the spring fell out, then a cover plate. When I looked I could clearly see one of the plastic pieces that operates the latch is broken. If I manually manipulate some of the pieces I can get the trunk closed (hard slam). Can I buy this part to replace it and where can I get a manual that shows me how to do that? Thanks.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Broken trunk latch 2005 Civic
Go here:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
Select your exact car
Pick trunk lid from the menu
See picture, locate the part you want, look in the list.
Probably will be called LOCK, TRUNK (HANDLE)
See prices, order parts.
It's easy to replace. May have to adjust it just a little to shut right.
If you really need a book to figure it out, try the library. Many have access to online info systems.
Or just go to a shop or the dealer.
