Speaker tear

I just got some 6.5" speakers (pioneer) and there is a small tear, about 1 cm, near the base of the cone on one of the speakers.
I am just wondering if this matters and how much? Is it garbage now? Also is there anything that can be done, aside from getting new ones?

By base of the cone, do you mean the dustcap area, or by the surround? (foam/rubber area on the out perimeter)

If it's by the surrouncd, you'll loose a bit of sound quality, the speaker will sound rattly. If it's at the dust cap, it wont be so bad....but it still wont sound like it should. Best bet is to replace the speakers.

Thanks for the info.

The tear is near the inner part of the cone.

it would be worse if the tear was at the surround..this is an easy fix..just take a small piice of cotton material and crazy glue it...
