I was replacing the valve cover gasket on my 03 civic and when I was moving the harness out of the way I guess I ripped the alternator wire off. I'm not sure on how to reconnect this thing or if it's broken I'm not sure. The wire on the bottom is still connected but I don't know how to reconnect this boot and that plastic box. Please help

That looks full of corrosion, you may be able to crimp on a new terminal, but you have to cut back to clean/non-corroded wire and at that point the wire might not reach. So then you have to run a new wire, which isn't that hard.

So in your opinion it is definitely repairable? Also how does that black plastic box thing connect and is it neccesary?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

The black plastic thing is just a holder to anchor the harness so it doesn't shake and vibrate.
It needs a new terminal and probably new wire fabricated or spliced in.
If that old cruddy looking terminal can't be unbolted from the alternator without damaging the nut/stud and plastic insulator...you may need a replacement alternator on top of repairing the bad wire.

Any good mechanic should be able to do this. Couple hours of labour, plus an alternator if that old terminal won't come off
