Rep Power: 0 No CD player, options?
Hey everyone.
I got a civic from an auction and came with no CD player of any kind . Here is what it looks like, I don't know how to tell if they just took original one out or there was a custom one. 2004 Civic EX Coupe [http://imgur.com/nDXPx
What are my options?
Much appreciated,
Pelmen

A non-OEM head unit was there before. Go on amazon and buy a nice single din head unit and it should slide right in there. Not sure if that is the OEM harness or not but if it is then you'll also need to either wire the hu into the harness or else buy an adapter for like 3 bucks on ebay or amazon.
Edit: That appears to be the OEM wires so you should buy an adapter.

Any specific name to search for adapter? I looked up on amazon and I'm getting a lot of ipod adapter and other weird items. Also any players you recommend that will fit right in there?

"HONDA CAR RADIO FACTORY WIRING HARNESS ADAPTER"
You can pretty much go with any single din player. Are you going to upgrade speakers ever? Add an amp? Those are things to consider when getting a new HU. If you are going to add an amp and other stuff besides new speakers then you should research more. If you are either going to stay with stock speakers or upgrade the speakers but not add anything else then you can pretty much go with anything. Pioneer makes the best stuff in my opinion and I've heard good things about alpines. You will want to see what features it has when you buy it. If you just want a stock radio replacement, go for the cheapest one (of a decent brand) with a CD player. Warning: Some HUs dont have CD players anymore. If you listen to a lot of radio I highly recommend getting one with HD radio tuner. The sound quality difference is very noticeable. If you listen to your ipod a lot get one with usb input and ipod direct control. If you just use a no-name mp3 then you can just get one with an auxiliary input. Tons of options... it's really comes down to your preferences. Go to your nearest best buy store and try out their displays and talk to a salesman to see what one you want. Write down the brand and the product number and then search it on amazon. It's usually like half of best buy's price.

It actually doesn't have too great of sound. The speakers are cheap paper pioneers that have probably gotten super brittle over the years. But anyway, you should be fine with almost anything then.

^If you go with that you will also need to find a new little door compartment thing for under the radio since you have the kit installed already for the aftermarket headunit. Easiest and best choice--pick up a halfway decent Pioneer for $50 off amazon, adapter and plug it in. Just don't plug in the dimmer wire. If you do it could take out your dash lights.
