I just got my 2009 Civic LX-S and I love it... I love the usb for the stereo but want to install new speakers...
I have only 4 speakers, and can only adjust bass and treble on the stock head unit...
I would prefer to keep the stock head unit and only install new speakers, so because of the way the stock head unit works am I only able to install 2-way speakers?
So if I can only use 2-way, I am thinking of going with either the Pioneer TS-G1643R or Sony Xplōd™ XS-GT1627A or Sony XS-GT1626A
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

You can use 3 way and up if you prefer, you are not limited by your headunit.
Your best bet? Do NOT buy Sony Speakers.
My suggestion?

Anything on this page and the next are recommended, other than the Sony Xplod ones.

Thanks Kenny, I really appreciate clearing up the 2-way 3-way stuff... So for the stock HU doe I need to be careful of the Power Range of the speakers? I have read that on here so I would want to be sure to make the right choice...

Aftermarket speakers are made very strong (at least most are)
Most power handling are > 50w RMS
Your factory headunit probably produces about 10w RMS, they can take a beating from stock headunits forever, (as long as not distorted) all day and night, and never have a problem.
Only fret if you're pushing more than the speaker can handle (and that only happens if you have an amp)

i suggest you against installing new speakers. ur stock speakers are calibrated to work in sync with ur stock headunit as far as sound goes.
honda just doesnt slap things together and hope it sounds great you know?
if u slap after market speakers on ur civic right now, it'll sound worst (even tho the new speakers have more potential).

Wow I have never heard that about afternarket speakers before...
The stock speakers really don't sound that good to be honest...

While it is true that some aftermarket speakers will not sound as good as stock speakers with a stock head unit, if you look for the correct specs, you should be fine.
I have a set of Boston Acoustic 6.5" pro components. They sound absolutely terrible with a stock head unit as they need at least 50 watts just to get warmed up. I am pushing 200 into them and they sound great.
Make sure that when you are looking for aftermarket speaker, that you find the highest sensitivity rating you can. Anything over 92dB is good.
From Crutchfield "An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how efficiently speakers converts power into sound. The higher the number, the louder the speakers will play. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power."
Basically it requires double the power for a 3dB increase in volume.
Here is a good chart showing how it an take 4 time the power 25 watts vs 100 watts to reach a certain volume.
