I'm planning to get a single-DIN deck for my Civic (haven't decided which one exactly yet) so I'm trying to order a fascia on ebay.. but I can only find double-DIN fascias. Would it be possible to order the double-DIN fascia and transplant the little cabinet thingy from the old fascia into the new one?

Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

There are single DIN ones out there. If your searching for 2004 civic that might be why your not finding anything. A lot of people who post on ebay would put 01-05 civic
Try searching 05 civic radio kit.

You should however send a message to the seller and make sure its not for an SI civic because I think those are different. If your planning to keep the drawer door I don't think it can be done without some custom work.

It's Metra 99-7897 that allows you to use the factory pocket with the door

That's the kit I have in my car

Thanks so much for all the help, guys! And I was actually planning to get an Alpine IDA-X303.. but now I'm slightly put off by the sheer size of that volume ****. I'll probably order one of the Metra kits.

The size of the **** really isn't bad. The head unit itself is freakin badass. I've been thinking about upgrading mine to a newer ida-series

Hahaha, I broke off laughing when he said he got put off by the sheer size of the ****....
But yes, it's all up in the way, and you gotta scoot over more to see the screen.
The **** makes it look like a cheap Dual deck.
I'd say get a Pioneer deck, they are good all around decks, but slightly expensive
Kenwood looks nice, but their menus suck.
Alpines are ugly, but they function good.
JVC's menus suck more than Kenwood.
I still stand by my Sony Headunit recommendations. They are the best starter decks, easy menu options, looks fantastic, very wide range of EQ settings, and best of all: cheap.
I plan to upgrade to the Sony DSX lines in the near future, probably DSX S300

Don't wanna threadjack here (then again, it's my own thread so I can't..) but do you guys have any idea of a good, cheap single-DIN iPod control deck? I don't need a CD player, I don't own any CDs or plan to buy any in the future. I've looked at a couple reviews but they usually veer towards either the most expensive decks with the little 3 inch LCDs in them, or the Double-DIN DVD players.. guess they forget the budget student like me most of the time. Any help would be awesome!

Like I said, if you dont listen to CDs often, get a digital deck
Sony DSX S100 is a cheap starter deck, for $119

I'll contribute, as if there aren't enough mods in this thread already lol..
There are a few great audio places in Vancouver, that have reasonably priced decks. Rise Auto Salon has Clarion CZ100 decks on sale for $100, and since shipping is almost never free to Canada thats a really good price. Its just a simple nice looking deck that plays mp3s. Being a student from Vancouver myself, I know the importance of a student budget lol
