Rep Power: 167 What bulbs for H8 fogs?
For 2005 Civic.
Have ebay fog lights coming.
These: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I'm assuming that the included bulbs are going to suck?
Is there a recommend bulb out there which would be an upgrade, and is not an HID?
Do any other sized bulbs fit?

if you like the lexus yellow style, i have a pair of brand new nokya yellow 2500k bulbs for $15 shipped. bought em for my fogs but ended up sticking in a spare set of amber led markers instead.

Guys, I understand that H8 fit H8 housings..lol
I thought maybe another kind of bulb that had more of a selection could be modded to fit.
All I'm seeing in H8 is OEM style, yellow or blue glass.
I'm going to assume that 100W bulbs are not recommended for these housings..
Guess I'll just see how the included bulbs work before thinking about upgrading.

you can fit h11 bulbs (50w, 1250 lumens) and also h9 bulbs (65w, 2100 lumens) with minor modding of the bulb base. BUT and this is a big one, using higher watt bulbs can destroy the housings. esp the 65w version. when the glass lens gets hot from the bulb, and then it cools rapidly from rain/snow/driving thru cool air it can crack. chrome coating can burn too. i personally would stick to 35w h8 bulbs (900 lumens) and no higher. the fog beam is not that great to begin with, and higher watt bulbs will have glare.

Thanks again gearbox.
H11's sound like an upgrade possibility.
Write-up on H11 to H8 modification, it looks easy!

Will stick with H8 for now, and perform a temperature test...etc, and see if it might be safe to do the upgrade.

the biggest problem you will have is with the glass breaking when you use the lights in the winter or when its raining. normally i dont think you will have a problem. the 01-03 fogs call for h11 bulbs but after readings 100+ cases of the glass breaking and the fogs costing a bundle, i decided on leds so there is no heat. i did originally plan on h8 yellow bulbs but figured they wont be bright enough anyway. and since "looks" isnt worth wasting 70w over, i went with leds that use less than 1w.

So basically these fogs do nothing for light output even with H8/H11 halogen bulbs.
Hmm, well, maybe I'll follow you and use LED's in the future as well.

pretty much no. if you decide on the leds to turn em into park lights, the maxxima 3/4 inch modules are a perfect fit in the bulb hole using the supplied rubber grommet. no cutting required. they have these all over ebay and they come in many colors. i got the clear lens amber version. there are a couple small holes after you mount them which can be filled with some of the 3m butyl. i have the same module in the headlamp so its a perfect match at night.

i may try to do this on my 330i. since i have OEM bi-xenons, i never turn my OEM fogs on. if they looked like this, i would though! my OEM fogs are H11, but i don't have a dedicated parking light like my 7th gen civic did. so might have to find a turning LED to put in the side markers. i want to get rid of the amber markers you can see in my sig anyway. so clear LED's would be nice.

its a good look with hids for sure i have a pair of white led version but ended up using the amber. and i have the fogs hardwired to the park lights so they always turn on. led clusters are super wide angle but the reflector fogs help to bounce the light around too.
