honda alarm unit not working
honda alarm unit not working
about 3 months ago a installed a new "02 honda civic" alarm system for my EX. I didn't have to do any wiring because the EX model has power locks, so it works in conjunction with that, any way... when i use to lock the car with my remote the parking lights would flash and the security unit will arm, like it sould do!! Now when i try to lock, the car will lock but the parking lights will NOT flash and the security unit will NOT arm up???? IF you lock your car twice with the remote, within 5 sec. the horn will sound for a split sec. Now it won't even do that? Checked fuses, tryed to find something in the alarm manual, but nada!!!! If anyone has a idea of what the filp is going on, please give a bro a hand!!, peace

well, the lights, the horn, and the locks are all going to be on seperate power outputs. based on that, it sounds like either the control unit is fried or it's not getting power. have you checked every fuse or just the one you think/know it is? maybe the connector came loose?

Re: honda alarm unit not working
sorry i can't help with the light issue. i put a viper alarm on my 02 LX. honda wanted close to 400 for the alarm unit, the remotes and to program everything. i got the viper installed for 200.
Re: honda alarm unit not working
Hows the viper system? I guess you have to wire your whole car, is this true?? Re: honda alarm unit not working
Glad it worked. I remember how frustrating that was to figure out. Never did find out how it got set. The other thing that's happened is the alarm put itself into automatic mode - everytime you close the door, it arms itself. Started going of at gas stations, when I opened th trunk, etc.
Now all I need to figure out is how to let the alarm know that when I open the trunk, it shouldn't try to rearm itself.
