Rep Power: 0 Kenwood Excelon vs. Rockford Fosgate
My subs arrived today in the mail (2 10" Type-Rs DVC 2 Ohm) and I am looking for an amp for them. I have narrowed my choices down to 2 amps. Any opinions on which one I should go with? I can get either one for $350 shipped. I plan on orderign whichever one I choose tomorrow evening.
Rockford Fosgate BD500.1
or
Kenwood Excelon KAC-X401M
Thanks for the help.

Rep Power: 0 MTX6500D...$309 shipped.. puts out a bit more power.. it's class D.. the RF amp is good too..the Kenwoods a class a/b so it draws a fair bit of current(not good with our measly 70 amp alternators)

Rep Power: 0 I would tell you the truth.....Rockford lost their edge years ago...Their first amps were the shiznit...As far as kenwood...well you are just paying for the name.. The head units are sweet, but I would stay away from the amps...thats from personal experience.....

Rep Power: 0 RF's new class a/b Punch amps are pretty much junk... the new Power amps are up to par with RF's old awesome stuff.. I Remember when I had an OLD punch 360.. Running 8 speakers and a sub off it.. Musta seen a .33ohm load and took it lol..
RF's Class D amps are quite allright..Nothing bad to say against them.. they produce pretty clean power for class D's... The Excelon amp is a current hog and is not good for out little alternators..
The MTX puts out much more power.. has a bass controll ****.... More efficiant..Cheaper..
Cheers

I would go with a Kenwood myself , I actually am shopping for kenwood excelon components myself and the hardest part is choosing what type of amp. 4ch, 5ch, 1 amp or 2? But at least I know it'll be kenwood.
just my opinion,

01civicbio,
Is that true about the fan on the amp being able to open/close through the HU controls? Cool, I didn't know that. Just another reason to go Kenwood.
