Rep Power: 0 Alpine type R 12" is awesome. I'm not sure what your into, but i hate those gangster subs that blow your head thru the windsheild. The type r, in my opinion is just perfect. get the 1242d.

and before you say its the same as a xxx
coil is different
slightly better sq, slightly less output
but the xxx is the only sub from re that I'd go near, but they dont make it anymore
its more re's business practices that draw me away from them too

actually they still make the xxx, but its the new crap model, which I don't think it comes even close with the old one. I would never get anything like that...
Yeah, I know the brahma is not as much spl oriented as the xxx but to tell you the truth, my friend has 2 xxx 12's in his accord (the ones that are not made anymore), and I really don't like the way they sound. SQ wise I mean. The spl is incredible, even though he's got leather interior, and the subs are in a sealed box...
Never heard a brahma, too bad you're not down here in socal to hear your system. Would you say the brahmas have as much sq as the ID max's ??

i know on paper it should have more sq since it has a flatter bl curve
and i know that the b15 can play lower
but things on paper are different than real world
whiterabbit could probably tell you better than i could
i just use it because i got it for dirt cheap
for my application it works great... i hardly ever crank it, i dont really use it above 50 hz. but when i do crank it, its louder than my 3 12" shivas were

brahmas sound awesome but they are hard to get your hands on them, for me atleast. The Brahma 15 is such a good sub it sounds like heaven and its power handling is up there. RE xxx's are also good, some may argue but they are easily top 5.
i like DD because they have high output competition subwoofers, if competition is your thing. Thats just my preference

if they haven't taken it off the internet, then youll find some nice stuff about RE's lovely business practices which draw me away from them.
as to DD, they make a DAMN loud sub, but that's what they design them to do, get loud. 9515's can handle an ASSLOAD of power. I've videos where the actual basket of the sub cracks and breaks into pieces before the voice coils burn out.
sound quality is what I'm after, but it's dying quickly... SPL is taking over

Rep Power: 0 DD subs arent really geared towards SQ, pretty much all out spl and thats why everyone htinks they are the best.
i suggest a 2005 12" alpine type r. slap it in a 2.5 @ 32Hz box with like 750 watts going to it and trust me you'll be happy, it get very loud and the sq is good aswell... and its cheap

As for the 05 Type R......i seriously doubt that thing can handle 750 watts rms...type R's do sound good but you have to get the box PERFECT to get maximum potential

Rep Power: 225 what about some image dynamics? or elemental desings?
they make the new XXX that has about 5 inches of excursion =P it kills the old XXX no doubt. though it also kills your wallet.. its over 600 for the speaker. but that thing is HUGE!

i STILL prefer the old XXX it might just be me but imho it sounds better and outperforms. imagine dynamics is an awesome brand putting out some killer subs, not too much experience with elemental designs but I also havent heard anything bad
