hu and rear defrost.

ok just a little question. but i got a after market hu installed and now everytime i have my rear defrost on, the fm/am side of the radio goes static and i can only listen to cds, any reasons why this could be?

I think it has something to do with the antenna and defrost being on the same (rear) window. That happens to my stock radio too. When i turn the defrost on, the radio becomes more static-ky (sp lol).

your power antena wire is probably not connected behind your HU. Even if we don't have a power antena on our cars, we have a signal booster because our antena is in the rear window, so you need to power it with the power antena wire from the HU. Alot of people don't connect those wires because they don't see a power antena. It's a bleu wire on your HU harness, and if you got the harness for the car, that one will be blue too.

well i dunno circuit city installed it, but it works great without the rear defrost on..and i dont think its worth it ripping it out and checking it myself

did you get work done in the back at the same time? When I got my windows tinted, the guy removed the rear plastic deck and the plastic around the windows in the back and he took out the antena wire out of the booster and forgot to put it back in after he was done and my radio reception was really bad, that could be another posibility. The booster is a small box with the antena wire going in to it and then it goes to the wires in the rear window.
