Rep Power: 0 JL Audio TR-650
Hi guys!
I just listened to the JL's TR-525 (coax) and they sound very nice for the price! I'm thinking about putting the TR-650 (component) in my 2003 sedan. The dealer told me that the 525 are direct fit but he wasn't quite sure about the 650 (which are 6.5").
I'm not really into cutting metal or plastic or anything, so I'd like to know if anyone installed those speakers already and how they fit.
Also, where are the best places to put the tweeters?
Thanks!

I installed the VR650s with no problems. I made a 7/8" spacer out of MDF, though, and I ended up cutting the plastic ring on the inside of the door panel just to be safe.
The tweeters I screwed into the plastic sail panels (the things behind the side mirrors). They look really nice! It might be better to tape or glue them in, though.

Rep Power: 0 This sounds like BS to me, but I was told by the dealer that the 6.5" don't sound as good as the 5.25". I didn't really pay much attention because that seemed pretty weird to me, but I read it on the Internet also (somewhere in this forum I think). So... what's the truth about it?
I'm also considering the VR525 (about the same price, but no coax instead of component). My local dealer doesn't have them on display so I can't listen to them. I'd like to know if I'm better of with the TR650 Component or the VR525 Coax.
Thanks

Rep Power: 304 Are you amping them? If so, get the components. As far as sounding better, thats a half truth. They will sound *different* not necessairily better or worse. Depends on what your looking for. Generally the bigger the speaker, the more midbass it will produce. Listen to both and see what you think.

Rep Power: 0 I'll be amping them. The problem is that I cannot "hear" them because my local dealer don't have them in stock... that's why I was asking in this channel.
Have you had the chance to compare them yourself?

I haven't heard the difference between JL 6.5" and 5.25" speakers myself, but I would be surprised if you would be unhappy with the smaller speakers. And it may well be that they sound "better" as the guy said (probably depends on what kind of sound you like, though).
I would definitely buy component over coaxial. Given a choice between TR650-CSi or VR525-CXi, I'd definitely choose the TR650s. However, if the VR525-CSi are not much more than the TR650-CSi, then that might be a tougher choice (but from your previous post it sounds like you don't have to choose between these two)...

Rep Power: 0 Yeah... life is though sometimes
I pretty much decided going for the TR-650 Component. I don't think I can be unhappy with them. I was very impressed by the sound of the TR-525 Coax! When I A-B'd them with the Infinity Kappa 62.5i (which I was about to buy), I was stunned! The kappas seemed so muffled!
