Talking okay got my money and amp, now need some sub/speaker suggestions.

Finally after months of saving, i have purchased my amp and my system is going to be installed by me soon. i have money ready for my new subs and speakers. i need some suggestions from you guys on best bang for buck deals =)

ok heres the senario
AMP: Kicker 800.4 four channel amp
Subs: i want one 10 or 12 inch sub in the smallest box possible
speakers: i plan on only gettin front speakers. should i go component or 3-way, 2-way?
Music: i mostly listen to hip-hop. but i do enjoy good high, loud, and clear vocals from R&B etc

i asked on sounddomain.com and one guy wrote
" you amp is ratted at 100x2 at 4ohms stereo and 400 x 1 at 4 ohms mono."
i plan to bridge 2 channels to power the one sub, and have the remainging 2 power the fronts

so i need some good speakers for the music i listen to and works with the power i can provide it and is under $200.00 max

the sub i need it to be SVC and can be around $250.00

not sure if my watt #'s and ohms is correct so please let me know if its wrong

thankz a bunch!!!

well, best speaker for you most likely will be shiva, but thats not a small box woofer, so thats no good.

with a little figuring, id say yrou best bet is most likely a 12w3v2d2. reasonbly small box, can take some abuse, gets pretty loud, just yrou all around good speaker (like mario in mario 2)

as far as fronts go you have ALOT of power to work with, so youll want some speakers that have some good powerhandling.

for hip-hop, and that power, and what I am guessing yrou budget s, id probably match teh w3v2d2 with a pair of earthquake 6.5" coaxials up front. components if you have the money. they can take the power and will get loud, guaranteed.

i was looking at the MB quart PSD 216 components. the are like $215.00ish. yeahh a lil over budget.. i just save some lunch money for an extra week :P i read that MBquart is pretty good. i heard them at a tweeter store too. so i know they dont suck. i might consider those since i cannot seem to find any earthquake components online?
oh and the sub i found some JL 12w3v D4 V2? cant seem to find the V2D2 u mentioned.

thnakz again

I believe that you found the 4 Ohm version of that sub when WhiteRabbit was refering to the 2 Ohm version of the sub.

It is the new version of the JL Audio 12w3, which is the JL 12w3V.2 dual 2 ohm voice coils.

I have those same exact speakers in my front, and they are a bish to get them to fit right. The tweeter will fit perfectly with a spacer and without the grill in the tweeter pod, but the woofer requires some cutting to get them in. The door panel, and maybe the door. The PSDs are also no longer being made, just so that you know...so you can find them for cheap.

just got my amp today kicker 800 4 channel. and hooked up to my subs. for some reason it doesnt sound as loud as i expected? maybe my subs just suck. or my wiring is wrong

i have 2 twelve inch RF XLC subs. i think they are 200 RMS each not sure.

so i wired each to its own channel + to + and - to -. gain is set using the 75% max volumn check for distortion method. and bass boost is at 9. wut should i put the crossover levels at? are my subs getting enough power? should i use the adjustments on the headunit too? pioneer deh 6400.

thankz for u guyz help. u guyz are awesome!

Mike

GrayGhost is on a distinguished road
I have Kicker Comp VR 10 inch subs (2) in a slot ported box. They hit extremely hard and they barely flex at all. Guess I need to turn the amp up some for it to hit harder.
