I need help wiring my new 6x9's.

So today I bought a pair of Q Power QP 693 6x9's that are 500 watts peak power each. I have a Sony X-plod stereo that's 50x4 watts. I have two 6.5's in the front two doors and I have a 1000 watt amp hooked up in the back. My question here is how would I go about hooking up the 6x9s? I know how to get to the fixture so it's not about that. I'd like to know how would I go about hooking it all up (Wiring)? It's a 2003 Honda Civic Ex Coupe.

Edit: The question I'm asking is should I hook it up to the amp or run the 6x9's straight to the stereo.

Re: I need help wiring my new 6x9's.

If you hook it up to the stereo, they're gonna be hella quiet, so you'd have to shift the fader forward a lot, then crank the volume to get a good balance (assuming your front speakers are stock or a low wattage).

However, if you run them through the amp, you'll be sending peak power to the speakers the whole time, and you risk blowing them quickly.. Why not opt for an amp with the proper wattage (RMS) for them?

You can always tone down the amp

How many channels is the amp?
And plus, you're probably never going to run 500watts into your 6x9's just to tell you now

It's probably around ~100watts rms im guessing
If your 1000watt amp is a 4 channel amp, i would run it from the amp
If you run it through the stereo, you wont hear the full potential of the speakers

Yeah I figured Id tone down the amp. I was just wondering how would I do it? Like. Take the wires coming from the stereo and solder them to some RCA plugs and plug it into the line in on the amp? Thenjust hook the 6x9's to the amp? I dont care how it looks as long as it works (At least not yet.)

First, How many channels is your amp
Second, What do you have hooked up to your amp?
Third, there is no soldering involved, just basic, speaker wire

Re: I need help wiring my new 6x9's.

If it's 4 channel, it should have
a total of 8 + and - terminals

does it look like this?

It would really help if you can give me specs on the amp, or brand + model
and what it's hooked up to. Subwoofer?

Nah it's a 2 channel I guess It says Crunchon the top in red lit up writing. And it's not hooked up to anything. I was just wondering if I could hook it up to this amp until I find a better one.

Re: I need help wiring my new 6x9's.

Assuming you have something like
Name: CrunchPZI22501000WattAmp.jpg
Views: 199
Size: 14.8 KB
or

and it's not hooked up to anything, then go out and buy some 16~20 gauge speaker wire. (walmart, radioshack...etc)
and some end terminals like so:

hook up one end of the wire to one of the + terminal on amp, crimp an end terminal to the other end of the wire, then plug it into the the + on one of your speakers.

Do the same for negative, but use the - terminal

Then do the same for the other speaker

Make sure positive wire goes to positive on speaker, negative goes to negative, very common sense.
I would advise getting silver/gold wire to distinguish between the two, otherwise, most wires will have a stripe to tell one from the other

Re: I need help wiring my new 6x9's.

If it's not a 4-channel amp you can't wire speakers to it without blowing them apart... I would recommend you get a 4ch amp and dedicate it to your speakers. A 2ch amp is for a sub.
