Thumbs up Alllow me to introduce SixOctave Accent coming soon from CDT-Audio

I've been given a little early peep at what CDT will be releasing in 2 weeks time. This has me a little excited. And should have everyone a little excited that already use CDT Speakers. Basically, these are 4" Accent speakers, like you would find in a 3-way set. They are used for rear fill or, you've guessed it, 3-way components. The best part? The 4" come with their own crossovers and can be wired right in with your existing crossovers for your CDT components. Yup, same amp channel. Instant 3-way, just add water. OR, in this case, just add accent drivers. I am swapping my Q-series for some CL-61As and 4" LAP Accents soon as these are released just to check em' out.

The Six-Octave Solution; Front Fill

CDT engineers has discovered how adding a unique system consisting of two special medium-sized speakers and special processing dialing link networks can enhance the sound quality of your vehicle's audio system. The system fills the sonic gaps between tweeters and woofers. The system fills the sonic gaps between woofers and midranges. The system fills the sonic gaps between woofers and subwoofers.

All but the crudest vehicle-audio systems have crossovers and filters. When you hear real live music at a real live concert, you don't hear crossovers or filters. Live music does not pass through any high-pass or low-pass filters. The sound of the orchestra, group, singers, or band do not pass through any bandpass filters. Filters attenuate the music and cause phase changes that cannot be cured by equalization.

Adding a Six-Octave System to the front of a vehicle enhances the vitally important direct sound that creates images on the soundstage... just as adding speakers to the rear of the vehicle enhances the ambient sound coming from the rear. In a concert hall, sound from the rear (1) arrives later and has (2) less treble than the direct sound; when rear speakers are added to a vehicle's sound system, the signals going to those speakers must be processed electronically to simulate the acoustic processing done by large spaces such as concert halls. Ambient sound is called "rear fill" because it fills the space in a vehicle as music fills a concert hall with reflections from the rear.

Cars are not concert halls, and they need special speakers and special processing to sound like them. Recordings are not mixed for vehicles, and vehicle sound systems must be designed to turn real recordings into realistic sound. Since concert halls don't get filtered sound from musicians or singers, speakers should not get filtered sound from a vehicle-audio system. However, the laws of physics dictate that small speakers are best for high frequencies, medium-sized speakers are best for middle frequencies, and large speakers are best for low frequencies. Tweeters, midranges, and woofers must be used to cover the entire frequency range, and filters must be used to prevent tweeters from woofing and woofers from tweeting.

That's a problem. Filters can create gaps that need filling. And filters are not perfectly accurate, so crossover points are underlapped, overlapped, and inconsistent from left to right.

The solution? Speakers that reproduce more than just a small slice of the frequency range... speakers that reproduce a six-octave range from bass to treble without any filtering along the way... speakers that fill the gaps created by low-pass and high-pass filters... speakers that smooth over the wounds in the music... speakers that let music flow upwards and downwards naturally... speakers that don't have gaps that have to be crossed over.

These speakers are the Six-Octave Solution speakers.

SOS speakers are designed to:

* Fill the unnatural gaps in the sound created by crossovers and filters

* Make the sound smooth and realistic from bass to treble

* Move the images forward... even out of the vehicle's interior... out over the hood

· Move bass images away from the rear to the front... where they belong (bass players and bass singers don't perform in the back).

· Improve bass impact

· Enliven and open up the vocals

· Enhance the image of center soloists

· Enlarge the images on the soundstage so they are more realistic... sounding like real people playing real instruments in real spaces... not like Ken and Barbie dolls playing toy instruments!

Installation:

CDT provides a kit that includes a special module that dials in the right amount of front fill for your specific situation. The wiring of the module--simply across the existing main speaker system and on the same amplifier channel--works without significantly affecting the loading of the amp. This is because only a slight effort (and, therefore, very little current) is required by the linking pair to do the job of filling the gaps in the sound. Mounting the extra small speaker (typically 4” in diameter) near the main speakers completes the system.

Rear fill simulates real-world acoustics. Front fill simulates real live sound!

SOS is the solution to sliced-up sound!

Ooooh... an upgrade for the mutt set. I've been trying to find a good speaker to add for a 3-way set. Wonder what the price tag will be? Let me know when you find out.
