sound dampening????????????????????
sound dampening????????????????????
Alright I have read so much sound dampening stuff its unreal all of them say something different, this is what I was thinking about doing let me know what you guys think. This is all in the trunk
Alright first get some of the expanding urethane foam that they use to seal pipes and stuff in houses, the stuff in the spray can, squirt this in between all the bracing that is welded to the car in the trunk. Cut off excess then use ice and water guard stick to all panels that I can, then if there is any other places that I cant stick the ice and water guard to something use truck bed liner and paint it on the metal. Alright what do you guys think will it work will it reduce the rattle to a suitable level ???????
Any comments or tips would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I guess it would work
It should reduce rattle and deaden at the same time
I Just never heard of anyone using foam before.
Yeah, you could use a liquid sound deadner or rhino liner type spray on top of that
Now you have to choose what brand

Not sure where you live
If you live in a wet area the the ice water gaurd wouldn't be bad I guess
Sometime bass can flem the trunk lid and might let water in.
but any coating sray should do I would think

Well I live in Alabama, I'm sure I dont have enough bass to make the trunk start leaking I've had my system in for going on about two years now and no problems. Are you saying that adding the rhino liner or something might make it start leaking????
Put the ice and water guard on every surface in the trunk, I would use two-three layers, then do your foam, then use Mar-Hyde rubberized undercoat (found at walmart and major autoparts chains) to coat everything.
Yeah but how can put the foam in the bracings if they are covered in water and ice guard, and I know the rubber coating wont stick to the aluminum sheeting on the water guard will it?????
sure it will...what do you think your car is made out of?
My 1/4 panels are covered in 3 layers of fatmat, then sprayed with GreatStuff foam, and then coated with MarHyde, and then covered in jute carpet padding.
