what speakers?
what would be a good set of 6.5" components(front) and 6x9's(back) to use for listening to techno, and rap? i want something with some good mids, and highs. i dont really care about lows, since i have a kappa perfect 12.1d sub for that. dont want to spend more than 200 on a pair. will be running them off of my alpine 9835 for the time being until i get an amp. please help me out! thanks in advance!
I'd recommend buying an amp instead of rear speakers.
For front speakers, any of the following would probably sound good:
JL Audio VR or XR
Adire Koda
CDT CL-61a
Polk MOMO
It's worth looking into the mid-to-high end stuff made by Alpine, Boston Acoustics, A/D/S, and Infinity. And I'm sure someone else can recommend speakers, too.
There is no "best" speaker. You'll be happy with quite a number of different speakers.

I like my infinity reference. I'm running them amped with no sub and they still give a good thump on some songs. But you might want to look at something higher end. Just be sure to get am amp for them.

That's what I've heard about the infinity. I do have separate tweets installed and they sound great. I don't know why everyone says mids suck. On certain songs, I can get some good bass out of em. They sound great. Maybe they mean the quality isn't as good as other speakers.
get mb quarts or focal. and you will cream ur panties. but they are pricey and require amps to run.
even im looking for some front speakers that will go well with my alpine deck and rear 6.5 infinity kappas.

I have rears with dymanat in the deck and it sounds decent with a +2 front fade. You don't want any rear fill up front, but without speakers you'll have people asking you why they can't hear anything back there
usually if you watch DVD in the car, you need the rear speaker, because you can get the surround sound, you can't hear the music from rear if you add the sub in the trunk..so I just put a good amp and front speaker and cut the rear speaker and add a mono amp and sub

For fronts, I'd say a pair of Adire Koda mids or the Kickers that (I think it was fonto) that has them. I can't think of the model number right now, but we used them in a guys truck last week and they were good with the lower frequencies. For the component tweets, I'd say either image dynamics or planet audio tweets, or something along those lines that will give you highs at a decent price (you can pick them up fairly cheap off of ebay). The reason I don't like Infinity's, especially for someone whom listens to rap and techno, where there's boomy mid and low frequencies is because they are somewhat harsh, and can't get s low and fill the gap between highs and lows as well as some others. I wouldn't go with rear fill unless you just insist on something blaring in your passenger's ears. If I were doing anything for rear fill, I'd leave the stocks in there ran off of the deck. I'd like to fit a single 8 up there to fill between the mids and sub, (mainly an idea I had for my setup or put one somewhere in the center rear floorboard, just to give me the higher portion of the low frequencies, and get the other, more punchy frequencies that my other sub doesn't cover as well.)

I third that. I've had 6x9's in the coupe, and they were overpowering the front. The OEM's were sufficient and amping the fronts did more good for the SQ.

The rear is tricky due to the glass being so close. It makes for some interesting sound (bad). Fade to the front a bit until you can barely hear the rears if at all.
Another thing. Dynamat will help the mids alot in the front doors. I was amazed what a difference it made even with infinity reference. What amp do you plan to use for the components?
