Want New System!!!
i have an Alpine 9813 Head Unit with an Alpine MRD-M500 and MRV-F540 and I dont know what kind of subs to get. I had two Rockford HX2's but then there werent hitting very hard. I dont know if I should sell these amps and get a whole new system or keep them and work from there. Also has anyone else had any experience with the M-500? When I turn the bass up too loud it would shut down on me. Any input would be apreciated. Thanks.
if youd like to meet up, come down to fresno on the 22nd of februare. theres gonna be a dB drag event, if youd like to get metered, or jsut get advice from Scott Stoner, who has held a state record for a short time and the leading spl competitor in his class in central california, its a blast to go!
definitely the best spl competitions ive ever been to are held in fresno... Ill be there myself sporting three w6's seeing if i cant actually meter high for once...

And if i can i will try to come out to the meet on February. N e one got n e inputs on what subs I should get???
im curious, is the M500 a 500 watt alpine? and is it 2 ohm stable?
my first thoughts are:
the alpine is 4 ohm stable only and the HX2's (assuming power) are wired for a 2 ohm load, causing the amp to go into protect.
as to it not being loud, if the M500 is rated for 500 rms at 2 ohms or 4 ohms, they are HX2's! power hogs, they need power to get loud!

yea ^^^ definitely agree if that's the case, HX2s have some power, I mean some power if hooked to a powerful amp...if ur RMS is 500 watts from your amp you definitely need better higher powered amps. My 1 HE2 10inch RF is hooked up to a 460watt RMS Kenwood amp and pounds like no other...(and that's only at half the sub level I set at).

Thanks for the input. Where is the cheapest place that I can find those subs? And i never heard of IDMAX before. Are those n e good?
On the birth certificate fro my amp it was rated at 512.3 watts RMS. So its pretty powerful but then it didnt knock my subs that hard. Cuz when i hooked it up to the old V12 series it hit hella hard.

that's 512watts RMS to two channels I assume? then u'll have half that for each of ur HX2 subs...and HX2 subs have at least 500rms each, 1000max at least...so yea u'll need much better amps...btw, ur enclosure is very important especially for RF subs, since they require a lot of space.
Its a monoblock.
500 rms @ 2 ohms
250 rms @ 4 ohms
Hopefully they are DVC 2 ohm, so best case each sub gets 250 rms, 500 max. If he wired it wrong, or they are DVC 4 ohm, he probably is getting 125 rms, 250 max each. Either way they can take way more power.

. gets loud on very little power. gets very loud with lots of power. IDmax was an sql woofer before the coining of the term "sql". its one of the first super woofers, and today remains a very popular SQ competition subwoofer while others like hte audiomobile MASS have died out.

The HX2's were wired to 2 ohms. I had one of my friends who worked for a shop check the ohm rating on the subs and it came out to jsut a bit over 2.xx. So I am thinking that it is the amp. I think i might have to check out these IDmax subs. Thanks for the input guys.

My rockfords come in two different sets though. U can get the DVC 4 ohms or u can get the DVC 2 ohms. They make them both for the rockfords HX2's.
Which head unit do you guys think is better, the Alpine 9813 or Pioneer DEH 8500???
