Thumbs up Video - DIY Changing front brakes - pads & Rotors

Pretty simple job really. Don't need a lot of tools and a good project for someone who is a beginner. Plus it saves you a ton of money.

Tools required:
Jack + jack stands
19mm socket for the lugs
17mm socket for the caliper bracket
12mm socket for slide pins
C-Clamp
brake cleaner
brake grease
anti-seize (optional)
Impact drill with #2 philips head
Drill with 1/4" drill bit (may be needed)
Shop towels or paper towels

I personally like the Centric brand for pads and rotors you can find them here on Amazon (though rockauto may be cheaper even with shipping):

Re: Video - DIY Changing front brakes - pads & Rotors

one thing I dissagree, you could use impact hammer instead of drilling the assembly bolts.. that way you can reuse them, and keeps the rotor straight. so less chatter when u drive. and lay of breaks...

Re: Video - DIY Changing front brakes - pads & Rotors

Some additional notes to help the DIYer: Direction of wrench is based on viewing the head of the bolt or nut CCW loosens & CW tightens. Check brake hose condition while doing brake job, swollen or frayed hoses need to be replaced. Note brake pad sequence and proper pin location (#12 & #13). Second hammer impact comment, after spraying with loosening fluid. Lay on your back to see alignment of 17mm bolts. Add wheel blocks and mechanics gloves to below list of tools. I put about 2 peas worth of brake grease in pins boots as well. Lubricate #14 surface where top and bottom of pads slide on this metal tab. At 8:50 in video a 30mm socket can be placed in piston recess to speed its compression with C clamp or caliper brake tool. Clean rag around resevor to catch any fluid over flow, paper towel can be used to remove excess fluid as well. At 11:00 in video this is the low brake pad squel indicator. I put a thin layer of grease between shims to minimize any potential noise. Good overview video, since I did this last, see my "06 EX Brake System Upgrade 2/17/15 post". See attached Honda illustration PDF.
