removing dash for painting help!!!
I was wanting to paint the dash on my car, not actually the whole dash, but if you follow the top of the door line and follow it to the dash that is the part I was wanting to paint. It looks as if that part is seperate from the top of the dash. I was wondering if anyone has had that part out, and if so how hard was it to do and put back in?

Sorry i posted in the wrong area, but the doors I am not worried about it is the molding line on top of the door that follows into the dash. I was talking about the dash (the area that runs above of the glove box around the radio and runs around the gauge area and meets to the other top of the door molding line)again sorry for my post in the wrong area. I searched in both but couldn't find in either one so I posted it here I would suggest that if you can't take the exploded view and figure out how to take it apart, that maybe you shouldn't be trying to do such things. Also you need to be concerned about working around that passenger side airbag.
There is another thread here where a guy mangled his dash trying to pry off parts with a screw driver. Others have ruined their gauge surround trying to install indiglo, etc. Once something like that is messed up, it's hard to fix or you have to pay the cost of replacement parts.
Just a word to the wise.
I think there are some precut, dash covers available, but I don't remember where.

I have ordered indiglo gauges and plan on DIY install, from drawing it looks like clips holding it in and 2 screws, maybe when I put my gauges in I'll get a better look at it
Here's a DIY that shows how to do the center dash trim pieces. I think that has to come off too before the dash pad comes off.

GAUGE FACES DIY
The trick for removing the gauge pod is to lift it with a thin wide blade, using the shaft of a screwdriver as a fulcrum. That way you aren't prying against the trim. That is, of course after removing the screws. Once you have that pod out, and unplugged, you can take the whole pod in the house and work on it under better conditions than in the garage. If you want to put custom trim around the gauges, this is the time to do that too, so you don't have to pull the gauge pod out twice.

I did my entire dash. The trim pieces have to come out first (radio, panel under it, vents etc....)
Before you try to take the air bag out, disconnect the battery, and to do the part that you want, you will have to take out the entire dash so you can get to the screws that hold it in!
Good luck!!! Took me 15 hrs for the whole process (removal, painting, putting back together)
Lots of screws!

unless you waqnt to pay the dealership $300 then you will need 8! hours of free time. I've done it and you need special tools also, because there are several bolts that are tucked under and around the air bag.
