ok so i just got a 1999 honda civic lx.its in really good shape.only has 19,000 miles on it.i want to start custimizing it.so the first thing i want to get is an axle back exhaust.but everytime i look for them i dont know which one to pick because i dont know the size of my tubing.does anyone know what it is on a stock civic lx ???
and if you know of a good axle back exhaust could you telll me,
i have no idea which one would fit........

You may want to go to youtube and search your car for exhausts. That way you can find one you like the sound of and see if the price fits what you want to pay.

If I were you, I'd find what's the smallest size diameter in the tubing of the entire exhaust system. That can easily determine the best size tubing to buy. Example: I think the smallest diameter a 03 dx has is a 1.75, so unless I make that section of the exhaust bigger, then there is no point in getting a 2" pipe.

i think hks is the only one that makes axel back for the civic that i know of. hks is a good sounding one. the only thing that makes them different is the angle of the muffler as of being straight.

A catback manufactured for your civic would fit. It would bolt right up to the stock cat. You can also look in the for sale section of this website and find some good deals. I got a almost brand new catback system from somone on here for 260 bones. Why do you want an axleback vs catback? jw

i just got the exact civic... with 110xxx. my uncle had installed new pipning 2 3/4" from headers to ehaust and a new 3" muffler. not sure of the brand but it gives a nice deep hum. When you hit the gas it gives a smooth sounding growl I would suggest getting bigger piping but thats just me.

i cant remember it all but with it being a friend we got a discount and i believe it ended up to be a tad under 300. keep in mind though this wasnt all name brand stuff. I will ask my uncle for all the details when i see him again and i will try to tell you the specifics.

I could be wrong, actually it's a shot in the dark considering i don't know, but it might just bolt up. It's irrelevant either way just find one for the lx or get something fabbed. Unless it does bolt right up. In that case it's a good idea to just go with the ex exhaust. Considering they make different exhausts for the ex and lx i'd assume it doesn't bolt up.

well i just got my exhaust in today.and when i ordered it it failed to say it was for an ex.is there anyway i can get it to fit on my 99 lx.whats the best and cheapest thing do do??

There is no real cheap way. You could take it to a muffler shop and they could modify it for you ( cheaper ) or you can buy a EX header and high flow cat ( expensive ).

That sucks dude! I'm so sorry that happened. What you may have done is just called the company to have them change the order before they sent it. You should still be able to call and see if you pay for shipping to send back and shipping to have the right one sent.

Its hard as **** to find exhaust companies that produce a exhaust for the lx,dx,ect. most are made for the EX. The web sites dont help they usally say fits all modles. BULLSHIT. I hate when they do that.

Just go to different exhaust shops and ask what they would charge. Another idea, if you want that extra nice growl from the exhaust, is to just scream into it. Someone may see you doing that, feel bad, and pay for you to put it on.
Going to exhaust shops may work better IMO.

buy my mugen twin loop in the forsale section (canada) that will sound sick aha

if your going to eng up putting an exhaust on, do all the way to the headders in one shot, eventually down the road you will do it if your planning to mod your car
