Rep Power: 0 Problems with Amsoil? Other Synthetic oils?
A friend of mine told me someone he knew used amsoil for his car and it ruined the motor.
~Anyone else hear of such problems?
I really want to use a synthetic in my car and I also want to stick with the same weight 5w20. Amsoil is the only synthetic I've seen with that weight.
~Are there any other brands?
I've already read different posts about people using 5w30 with no problems but I'd still rather use 5w20 anyway.
Here are some beers for those who reply. Thanks

Rep Power: 394 There's a synthetic blend called Motorcraft at Wallmart for $1.77 that I use. Works well, I even noticed the engine idling smoother the first time I changed the oil. I also changed mny sister's oil (she has a 2001 LX coupe too) and she said the same thing.

Rep Power: 0 Thanks Grey, I saw that too. I was suprised to find only Walmart having any 5w20. However I'm really wanting a full synthetic, not a blend. Just call me picky.

Rep Power: 0 a few of my friends are mechanics, (one of them is a mercedes certified mechanic) and they said i should not use synthetic till the engine has 17k miles or more on it, they said syntheic is more of a engine restore rather than your average oil, something about using syntheic when the engine wasn't broken in will harm the engine itself, and leave a lot of carbon deposites
