can you take the silver piece on the very front of the hood off, or would you have to get a new hood?

why would you paint underneath it? Just buy a painted trim peice.... that was one of my first mods was getting rid of the chorme

yup, its already painted from the factory, there are 4 ten "mm" nuts and one clip holding the trim piece on

Yes you can take it off. A friend of mine did it for me a while back... with the back of his truck . Trust me, it looks better on. There is a lip that comes out to support that piece and if you take the piece off, it looks like there is something missing. If you don't like the piece because it is chrome then I might recommend getting a painted one like the ones that come with the coupes. I never really cared for those chrome pieces (no offense to those that like them).
