is this true about catbacks and headers?

is it true that if u have a stock 1.7l civic Ex engine and don't plan on turbo charging or anything, that CAI is all that u should get? cuz headers and a catback exhaust won't do anything because the engine sucks and u don't need any more back pressure? for instance, if someone who had CAI, raced someone with intake headers and cat back, that it would be pretty much a tie?

well, depends on the drivers. I'd say that if an i/h/e is all you're gong to do, then its not very worthwhile. But if you're going to beep up your motor (head work, new pistons, etc), then those free-flowing intake and exhaust components will really open up the power for you. I'd say that the biggest difference is the sound. And looks from the rear. Also, a new catalytic converter makes BIG performance gains, from several sources I've heard from.
