Can running too high of an octane be bad for the engine?

yeh but i only use it with 1/4 tank so just for that time racing.

all it does is more of a better respose, 2+hp and high combustion in cylynders also doesnt use a much gas to burn

Isn't xylene inert though? If you mixed it with gas and tried to burn it I don't believe it would combust. As for increasing the octane rating, I suppose it could strand a good degree of compression, but its awfully expensive owing to rarity...

You are right... higher octane ratings just make gas more resistant to detonation. Which is why you run race gas in a high compression engine. It can burn it.
I never could quite see the point in dumping expensive gas or additives into a D17. 9.9:1 compression, a plain old redline... just pour in 87 or 89... otherwise you're just making it harder to burn it. I race on 87 all the time.... seems to run just as fast as it does on 93. Find the newest big name gas station in the area, that way the tanks are clean.

well just try it and maybe youll see its mainly a sub. to race fule they sell that the track.

but most use it on dsm cars thats how i found out. but they use a 4 to 1 mix they said to use a 2/3 to 1 mix of gas.

i dunno just wanted to see if anyone else use it besides me.
