2006 Civic LX MP3 player
Ok so I love the fact that the Civic has an MP3 decoder, this allows me to have tons of songs on one CD.Running low quality songs I can get hundreds on one CD,but with subwoofers I need higher quality or it sound crappy. This makes it so I can barely fit 100 songs. Now this is still a lot of songs, but I have a very expansive music taste, and the hassle of creating new CD's all the time when I get new music is very tiresome.
I was wondering what the best path would be to make my car play music from my Ipod.I've tried FM transmitters, but they don't keep the quality of the music,I'm looking for a hard-wired solution.I saw one Civic with a cord coming out of the glove box that was attached to the back of CD player somehow, how would I do this/should I?
How much would it cost to get a wire like that put in?
Is there any way to swap out my deck, with the deck of a newer civic that has an Mp3 player plug-in?How much would that cost?
Note that I do not want to replace the factory deck with an aftermarket one,I really like the way it looks.

I'm looking at this:
http://www.uneeksupply.com/2006-Hond...-_p_10878.html
But is says to make sure my car has the 14 pin connection, how do I find out if my Civic does or not?
Also is this the connection they are talking about:
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/audio...t-install.html
Or is this a different plug.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2006 Civic LX MP3 player
I'm looking at a diagram for a 4 door LX USA car. Without Navi.
3 main connections on the back of the radio, A B and G.
G is for antenna connections.
A has speakers, 2 powers and a ground, data lines, speed sensor input, what looks like a security input to the MICU. 17 terminal connector.
B, 20 terminals, only 6 wires, is for the "option connector" such as the aux jack which looks like an acccessory on 06 but standard in 07 and newer. Shows 6 wires in the option connector, one is a shield. Yes, the connector is what is shown in the how-to link after removing the console parts.
2 door lx, all ex, and si have more wires in this connector. 4door LX only should have 6 wires.
There is also a connector E (14 terminals0) on the radio that is not labeled in my pics (white empty cavity), I can only assume it would be for the musiclink or an accessory cassette or CD changer. The shape of the cavity looks real close, but it just isn't labeled in the 4 door LX diagram.
Looking in the parts catalogs, the musiclink, CD changer, subwoofer, etc are all available for a 06 4door LX. So I would have to assume the unlabeled connector in the radio diagram is the same 14 pin connector you are seeking.
EX and LX use different radios.
Yank your radio and look.

Re: 2006 Civic LX MP3 player
Just thought I'd update and say that I did buy an adapter and installed it myself.
Pretty simple, the only hard part was getting to the 2 screws under the radio to pull it out.
