rear brakes 07 Civic - compressing the piston back into the caliper????????

I've got the old pads off the rear and now I'm trying to compress the piston back into the caliper with no luck.

Whats the trick? Does it get turned back in? Clockwise or counter? A special tool needed?

thanks !!!!!!!

The piston SCREWS IN, clockwise. Get it all the way in, then line up the slots on the piston with the peg sticking off the back of the pads.

Smashing it with a C clamp is guaranteed to ruin it.

The rear calipers incorporate the parking brake mechanism into them. You cannot simply push the piston in, it must be screwed in.

90% of all calipers that have a parking brake mechanism built in use this method.
