09 Civic Spare Tire Trunk Board

I upgraded my "donut" spare to a full size rim/tire setup. Now the tire bolts in the trunk fine but the trunk cover board doesn't close. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket board sculpted for the larger tire?

Re: 09 Civic Spare Tire Trunk Board

Not without making it.

I came very close to modding my 05 trunk to carry a full size spare but did not want to go through the hassle and have to give up my trunk tray (which is now in my 2010 btw, perfect fit also)

The idea I had was to make a wooden box just large enough to cover tightly over top of the fs spare and cover the side gaps in the tire well.

Only ever had 1 low tire (not flat) in 80k miles on my Michelin Harmony tires.

When I would go on vacation I would take the fs spare and just put a square plywood panel on top of it to put items on.

Any chance you know of any available 16" X 6.5" single steelies ?? I need a fs spare for this car.

Re: 09 Civic Spare Tire Trunk Board

This is my daughters car to travel to college so having a F/S spare is important since those donuts are good for 50mph max. As for the steel wheel I got mine on a Honda discount parts site. I think it was $80 plus shipping. The only ones on ebay were rusted & trashed and they wanted $75. I guess I'll have to make one out of fiberglass and the existing board.

Re: 09 Civic Spare Tire Trunk Board

you could just make your own and let it sit higher. put some wood blocks or something to fill the gap so it has a place to sit other than the tire. home depot has all sorts of "board" materials that would work if youre good with a jig saw.
