Have a 2002 now that I bought new and took it to 266k,, but not without a few expensive issues. This time around looking for a lower mileage (less than 70k) used car. On my 02 the transmission was known to be a problem, at least I did. Have they solved this? It would be nice to take a car to high mileage with good maintenance without a stupid design problem trip me up anyhow.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

8th gens (06-11) I personally have seen very few trans problems.....

but many people that have neglected trans fluid services seem to develop some TCC shudder, so we (at work) still recommend ATF drain and fill every 30k (or more often).

the r18 engine block is know to have a cracking issue.

I saw it once on a customer's vehicle. Right in the middle of the block there was a 1 inch hairline crack dripping coolant. very odd, lol.

06-early 10 are affected ....covered by 10 year/unlimited mileage warranty extension (need VIN status checked by dealer first)
