Rep Power: 0 01 Civic LX misfire won't go away
My 2001 Honda Civic LX has only 97,000 miles. Bought the car and everything seemed fine. Got home from a 45 minute drive from said purchase, and car began overheating. Waited, then checked and zero coolant was in the system. Put coolant in and it kept overheating. Changed damaged thermostat - still overheating. Burped coolant system - temporarily stopped over heating for roughly two weeks. Did tune-up; spark plugs, oil change etc. Then, began the misfiring. A P0302 CEL code came on approx. a month after purchase of the car. Replaced ignition coil for the 2nd cylinder, worked for about a week. Then a multi-misfire code came in cylinders 2 & 3. Replaced ALL ignition coils, was fine for another week and a half. Then, code P0302 reappeared - replaced fuel injector. Now, no solid CEL but a flashing CEL appears when driving, and when its flashing it drives rough. However, the minute it goes away it drives slightly better, little stuttering. After each repair, when the car would be seemingly functioning normal, it still would occasionally overheat. Kind of feeling stuck as to what to do next. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Blown head gasket, plus very likely a warped cylinder head.
