Hi

Im quite new to the forum and im having a little trouble with my civic.

I have a 1999 ek civic cxi auto and there is a strange random clicking sound (almost sounds electrical) coming from the gear selector.

As it is random it is driving me crazy and hard to locate. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows what the problem is.

Any help will be appreciated

Interlock solenoid should click when you push the brake pedal and the shifter is in park.....

IDK. Doesn't sound like a common issue so far. Record it if you can


See if noise comes from under the car, not in?
Turn your head sideways to listen, maybe it's coming from front or rear instead of in the shifter? Or the roof?
Take out center console so you can see what's going on in there when it happens?

If you turn up the volume you can kind of hear it. Still not sure what it is

I got nuthin.

Are you sitting still or are you driving when this makes the noise?

Random noise like something is loose inside? Take it apart and see what's there, drive around with the console out for a while.
