speaker upgrade - 2014 Civic LX sedan
Looking to replace the OEM (Pioneer?) speakers with better quality speakers. I want a simple bolt in. No cutting, drilling, etc. From looking at Honda parts online it looks like the front door and rear deck speakers are about 6 1/2". Too many choices on Crutchfield. What would you recommend? I do not plan on adding an amp or a subwoofer. Most of my music is streaming bluetooth. Just want simple, better quality replacement speakers.
On another note, does anyone know if the OEM LX head unit has provisions for adding the dash pillar tweeters? For that matter, are there any addition input/output ports on the back of the head unit? I do not want to tear the dash apart just to examine the back of the unit.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat

Will start with the head unit. About the only additional output ports you will ever find on a stock head unit is for a separate CD or Cassette deck.
As far as provisions for a separate tweeter, that would be a matter of purchasing component speakers and mounting the tweeters in the Pillars.
As far as speakers go, you will want to look for speakers with higher sensitivity ratings since you are not running a separate amp. Look for a minimum of 90-91dB. 93dB or higher would be better. Look at the Polk Audio or Infiniti or even Pioneer. Speakers are a very personal choice. Everyone hears differently and speakers sound different to each person.

Adding a tweeter would require the use of a component speaker, another channel or a cross over. There is no splicing into the other speaker per say to gain use of the tweeter.
Something like this for example would be as close are you are going to get to plug n play.
JL Audio C2-650 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component Speaker System
