Unable to open 10mm nut

I want to change the thermostat of my car but there is a screw that I can not open. It is rusty and trying to open several times it's head has begun to become a little round which makes the 10mm key slide as soon as I try to turn it. I tried other 10mm key but I am not able.
This is a 10mm screw.
I do not want to go see the mechanic because I know it would not be easy for him and this without undoing the front of the car in addition to pay him.
So I want to buy a tool to which can really open this so i can use this tool for future.
i saw on YouTube/eBay nut splitter cutter, Grip-Tite Wrenches and Sockets, SocketPro etc..
but i dont know which is better in my situation. Thank you
P.s. I already put a wd40 plus another anti-rust but it did not work.

Re: Unable to open 10mm nut

6 point socket
vise grips
spline drive socket or wrench such as Matcos ADV drive,

I've got a couple different sets of this style and they have gripped some amazing stuff that was seriously damaged

Worst case, break it off and plan for spending some time drilling out the broken chunks and retapping it or making thread repairs.

You've linked to a nut splitter. That isn't designed to do what you want.

Looks worse. Try some vise grips?

Re: Unable to open 10mm nut

The bolt is seized in aluminum, probably galled the threads? Have you tried heating the bolt head with a torch? (WARNING: do not melt the aluminum)

I'd probably have broken the head of the bolt off, or cut the bolt apart yesterday, then drilled out the broken pieces and retapped the threads

Junkyard, check for a replacement housing from another engine?

Re: Unable to open 10mm nut

Aluminum is metal.

Bolt is steel.
Housing is aluminum.
Galvanic corrosion can occur between dissimilar metals. (google it)
Galvanic corrosion can cause thread galling.

by torch you mean small light?
Not illumination.

Fire: Propane, MAPP gas, or oxy-acetylene torch.

Re: Unable to open 10mm nut

No. The screw head is not enough large/long/big to be locked with vise-grip.

The mechanic is asking for 100$ to remove it.
My job day sallary is 63$ for 7hours works.

I can't return it, sold it or throw it si I préfère to install it.
As I am learning how car work on YouTube and open-close my own car so I am very excited to change it by myself to have move confidence in me for next any repairing in future.
As I already have damage the bolt little bit and try many thing to open, i don't want to fail and loose my confidence. The bolt is not intelligent as human so I need to win.

i have a funny feeling your problems are a lot more severe then a thermostat,

you likely have a blown head gasket,

i don't think the thermostat replacement is going to help much

it is no mystery, its because your head gasket is blown,

combustion gases are getting pushed through the head gasket into your cooling system....the air/gas in the cooling system is pushing coolant out into your overflow tank,

the air/gas in the cooling system also causes the overheating

on a side note
i could have that bolt off using vise grips, a hammer, and a chisel in less then 5 mins

Head gasket is blown.

The stuck bolt you have been fighting can be repaired while the head gasket job is being completed.
