I went to the recall site and my Honda isn't listed for the VIN for a recall. I called my local Honda shop and they couldn't tell me what brand of airbag is in my car... Just that it wasn't in the recall. If they can't tell me what brand is in it, how do they know it doesn't need the recall?

If the vin number is showing as clear, then I wouldn't worry about it

I think its all Takata but I don't know why some vehicles don't have the issue. If it didn't come up in the system then you should be good. If it is a recall vehicle Honda will hunt you down and send you a flyer in the mail every few months until you get it done.

My 01 Civic, 07 Pilot and 09 Fit all needed it done.

Yes I bought all those vehicles used and was contacted by Honda. After my Fit was totaled I had to call a number to let them know and they wanted all the claim info and where the car currently was. People had died from the issue so they are proactive about it.

Actually, I would worry about it.

Takata was charged with fraud in lying about test results of their airbags. 13 people have died 180 injured from Honda vehicle airbags. Lawsuits are ongoing.
The recall is ever-expanding and I wouldn't wait for an official notice for you to now be on the list of recalls.
Ask American Honda if you have a Takata airbag with Alpha One ammonium nitrate (bomb material) inflator in both your 2004 Honda Civic airbags - these are defective. If they admit that, then insist Honda replace both inflators for free ASAP.
