Leaking Windshield/Rust Repair
Leaking Windshield/Rust Repair
Good morning fellas. Looking for some opinions here. '02 Civic EX, 280k+ miles on the body, rust has appeared around the top of the windshield. A few years back I had a cracked windshield and got it replaced, while the shop was replacing it they showed me all the rust where the windshield mounts/seals. They cleaned off what they could but it has now gotten bad enough that it has starting leaking when it rains. I absolutely love the car and want to keep driving it but in my opinion any water leaking in and soaking the carpet is unacceptable. So, is it worth having a body shop repair the rust and repaint or is she now a fair weather car? Anybody have an idea on what a repair like this would cost?
P.S. The local body shop charges $125 to remove the windshield before giving an estimate to repair. Hence why I'm asking here first.

i'd pull down the head liner and see if i could see the bad areas at the back.
girlfriend's car has a similar problem, when the windshield got done i warned them there might be a hole and said just fill it with the urathane

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

They can leak through the channel the roof molding sits in too. (rust out or bad seam sealer)
