I recently got an old 1989 Civic Lx (ef body) with the stock 1.5l sohc d15b2 engine. I'm wondrwond what engine I could swap into it easily that would get me a bit more power? I don't mind if I need a new transmission too, just so long as it all just slots into place with nothing major needed.

a d16a6 or imported "zc" engine will drop in with no other parts.
unfortunately, in order to see the maximum performance benefit, you will want to use the intake that comes with the new engine. for that you will need an MPFI computer, injector resistor box, and then you need to rewire the injectors so the car uses 4 injectors instead of the DPFI 2 injector system it has now, and the TPS sensor wiring needs to be switched around because the new intakes throttlebody turns in the opposite direction.
keep in mind that for all the effort, you still will not have a racecar.

This was the sportiest US market Civic, only available as a hatchback. The engine fitted was the D16A6 16-valve SOHC with 4-point injection and output of 108 hp (81 kW). It weighed in at 2,286 lb (1,037 kg), achieving a factory 0–60 mph of 8.1 seconds; and a quarter-mile time of 16.2 at 82 mph (132 km/h).
