Rep Power: 0 won't shift into 4th gear
I have a 1993 Civic coupe and it will not shift into 4th gear when cold or when you stop and resume driving in a few minutes. It will shift if you rev the motor with your foot on the brake and then proceed to drive. Thinking shift solenoid. Any ideas?

If it's an automatic you can try removing and cleaning the shift solenoids and gasket screens with brake cleaner or simple green. Also inspect the shift linkage on the transmission housing.
Other than that do an ATF drain and fill and hope it's not an internal issue: clutch pack, valve bodies.
