I don't know much about Honda swaps, but I've got a 94 coupe with 419K miles. It recently burnt an exhaust valve on #3, and there's a guy who'll sell me a D16Y8 head. Is this literally just a "plug and play"? Money is extremely tight, and I just need the car up and going again. Please let me know if this head will bolt on with no problems. Again, my current engine is just a D15B7, non-VTEC, 16 valve. Car is a 94 DX coupe, 5-speed, federal emissions.

You might be better off purchasing a valve or valves and lapping it yourself, bring it to a machinist or purchasing the same stock head. If you stick with the stock head you'll have less potential headaches than if things go wrong with a mini-me swap. can find stock heads on Ebay too:
https://www.ebay.com/i/272621168719?chn=ps&dispItem=1 I've never purchased one that way so do your research if you go that route. Can search your local Craigslist auto parts section too and may find one.
Can search this site: http://car-part.com/
I just used your car's make/model and did a local search in my area using car-part.com and 50 cylinder heads showed up ranging from $75-$150. Call or email the ones you're interested to find out if the head is already pulled or not. Most will ship parts too if it's to far to pick up. Also, if it's already pulled ask them if the valves have been leak tested.

Thank you for the info. So, the D16Y8 head is a VTEC head? Again, I really don't know too much about these cars. I don't want to do a conversion, I just want to replace the head with one that'll work like stock.
I have a 97 sedan at home with a D16Y7, so is the "7" non-VTEC, with the "8" being VTEC?

So you have two Civics? In the initial post you stated: "Again, my current engine is just a D15B7, non-VTEC, 16 valve. Car is a 94 DX coupe" Which engine needs the cylinder head or valve repair?
