(Yr, Coupe/Sedan/Hatch, Sub model, Engine, Trans)

I want to see if I'm where I should be.

I'm in an 89 Civic Sedan LX 1.5L Automatic and get 30mpg.

Re: What's everyone's avg MPG

Sounds like you are! I get about 27 right now (350mi/13.2g tank), but it seems like all I make are short trips. Back when I lived farther from my work and drove for longer distances on highways, I could squeeze 430 miles out of my tank, or 32mpg.

Re: What's everyone's avg MPG

Now that the weather is consistently staying above freezing again, my daily commute mileage is creeping upward. Finally saw a solid 27 again today.

1999, Coupe, DX, D16y7 (1.6), MT

My average for the past 3 months (with steelies/winter tires) has been 37 mpg (all highway).

Really though MPG varies a lot from person to person and car to car. Two different people could drive the exact same car on the exact same route and have quite different mpg.

Good mileage for an average Civic would be mid 30's though.

Re: What's everyone's avg MPG

I just bought a 2001 Civic EX. I get 28 mpg around town and 38-40 on the highways. My son just replaced my plugs and my valve cover gasket...runs great. I did get the check engine light with the P0420 code but it's running great...I have 2 things to search on. If I don't give it time to warm up a little it'll go, then hesitate...act like it's going to stall then it goes. Then...the notorious P0420 code. Now...to find the proper forums for these goodies

Re: What's everyone's avg MPG

After spending the last four days driving all over Tennessee (including rush hour Nashville), I had the pleasure of seeing this at the pump today:

That's about 34.75 miles per gallon, $.11 per mile... and I had a little more gas to spare! Those long trips are ABSOLUTELY the Civic's strength.

Is that highway or street or both? I have a 1991 sedan 1.5 automatic as well. And I usually average 200-220 street and 280 highway

That's an average of both, but It's mainly all highway miles as I drive 110 miles a day to work and back. It's all stock except for a K&N air filter (stock replacement, not cold air or ram air).

Re: What's everyone's avg MPG

Driving through the Rocky Mountains, figured I'd stop in Cortez for a final fill-up. The trip meter had me at around 360 miles but the fuel gauge was just under 1/2 tank. I figured it was off until the fuel pump stopped at 8 1/2 gallons or so. I calculated it at about 41mpg! This was with me constantly slamming it into 4th gear to get around slower traffic (I was booking it at over 60mph) and up mountains. I even had it in 3rd on a particularly steep climb! My car's still got it!
