1990 EF SI Hatchback

My son wants me to go look at a 1990 EF SI Hatchback he is thinking of buy'ing. It is supposed to be all origional with 132k miles. I don't know much else about the car yet except it is supposed to be a 5 speed manual. Can you tell me the weak spots to look for and what to check other than the basics? It is also supposed to have a sunroof. I don't know if that is a good thing in a car this old. I see on line that they are fairly popular and the price is low so I may help him get it as a father son project even though it is supposed to be in good shape.

Thanks

Ed

Re: 1990 EF SI Hatchback

Anybody. Going to look this afternoon. I would appreciate any advice on issues you may have had. I know a car of that age is probably in need of most things but this car is supposed to be all original and only 2 owners. Maybe a ball park estimate on what it should cost. Edmunds said $625.00 to 1200.00.

Sorry for the late late reply but these cars are indestructible...The engine is a workhorse. To all of those out there who are maybe interested in purchasing a 1.6L 88-91 Hatchback, the best car. I have 485k miles on my 91 civic 3dr hatchback. Im the original owner. This engine has survived approximately 10 over heating incidents due to broken or ripped hoses. Indestructible.
