Ok so I'm looking into buying a buddys car but its throwing a code 48 what does that mean and is it a easy fix?? It's a 93 civic vx in California also what's the average fuel economy for a vx and is there any problems with the model?

Code 48 is the o2 sensor. you need to buy a working or a new 5 wire o2 sensor.

No problems with the vx model, except that they're a little slow, but that doesnt matter because the gas mileage it gets is 48 city, 55 highway. even by civic standards, thats incredible if you ask me, and it's due to the vtec-e motor, which is a leaner running motor than the other civics, its extremely light weight by taking out the sound insulation and other bs it doesnt need, it even has lightweight rims! i've heard on forums that they can even get 62 mpg. however, if you happen to get your hands on one, better keep it close, due to their high desire and rarity.
