Rep Power: 0 Just bought '89 civic si. What maintenance?
Hi! New here!
I read somewhere that i should replace the spark plug seals and the timing belt, should I? Is there anything else i should worry about? It only has 170,000 miles, but it has been sitting for about three years. It started first try though!
I am happy for $300 .
I also need new shocks. Anyone know what is the best low price choice, and what the performance difference would be vs stock?
Thanks for any advice related to this awesome car.

if the car has been sitting for a few years definitely change out the timing belt, plugs, oil, filters, belts and probably the main hoses. There are some good how-tos around to guide you through the timing belt. When you get to pull the crank shaft pully I ended up making my own tool out of 2 1/2 in iron pipe. I was able to get it done in a weekend but if I had to do it again I can probably do it under 3 hours. While your in there make sure to change out the crank shaft seal and the water pump.
As for the price, I'm seriously jelous! I ended up paying $2k for mine and put another $1k into repairs on it but I really love my car!

Of all that before you start driving it replace the timing belt, cam and crank seals (be careful not to damage anything taking out the seals or it will never seal right again) and waterpump.
